If you’re anything like me, New Year’s resolutions often contain some form of travel. I’ve been to countless countries, especially right after my college years when I backpacked through Europe, but the more I travel, the more I realize that there are so many more places in this world for me to see. I found a great article by Business Insider that lists the top 25 places to travel to according to the travel experts. Here are my favorite five from that list.
The experts claim that there are two great times to visit Amsterdam, mid-April to early May will allow you to see the infamous tulips and October to March, excluding New Year’s Eve, will bring fewer crowds and allow you to experience the culture without pushy tourists in the way. There are plenty of attractions to see such as the Anne Frank House and the Van Gogh Museum.
If you want to make your holiday meaningful, consider that trip you’ve been longing for to one of the Caribbean islands. In light of the recent hurricanes we’ve seen this past year, communities in these tropic areas need our support now more than ever. Most of the income on these islands is due to tourism.
The best time to travel to Tokyo is in the spring and late fall seasons, which provide comfortable temperatures as well as either cherry blossom season in the spring or beautiful autumn foliage. You’ll want to avoid travel here in the late summer as it’s Typhoon season and it can disrupt your travels by plane or train.
If seeing the Northern Lights is on your bucket list, Iceland is the place to go. Flights here are at an all-time low right now, making it easier than ever to get yourself to this tiny island. Take a short drive outside the capital to see the lights without city light pollution. It’s forecasted that the best months for these views will be now until March and then again in November and December. It’s best to see this during a New Moon.
Lake Bled, Slovenia
Do yourself a favor and search Lake Bled on Google Images. You will not be disappointed with the jaw-dropping beauty. Temperatures here are a bit colder than most places on this list with an average high of 49°F in the hottest month of July and an average low of 22°F in the coldest month of February. But if you’re traveling with your significant other, I couldn’t think of a more romantic way to stay close and see the romantic sights this destination has to offer.
